Times and What to Expect

Located at the corner of Sixteenth and Gallatin Streets in upper northwest Washington, we welcome all to our community and to our worship. We are a “Reconciling in Christ” congregation. We believe that the Good News of God’s grace is for all, regardless of age, abilities, physical and mental health, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, education, income or strength of faith. There is nothing we do, have done or will do, that can separate us from God. God makes no exceptions, nor do we.  Come join us in praise, prayer and the work of our Lord!

Worship is at the center of our life at Christ Lutheran Church.  While we are rooted in the Lutheran liturgical tradition and follow the lectionary calendar, our worship is open and dynamic.  It includes music, prayers, and dance from a variety of cultures. Every Sunday we gather as a community to hear God’s word, pray for those in need, share the Lord’s Supper, and be sent out to serve the world in God’s name. We are passionate about music and our service is filled with it.  Sermons connect God’s word with our experience and challenge members of the congregation to live as God’s people in the world. We believe liturgy is the “work of the people”, so leadership is shared in our worship by members of  the pastoral staff and congregation.

Children

Children and youth are a valued part of our community and welcome to participate fully in worship. They take roles in leadership as ushers, readers, bread bakers, acolytes and crucifers and more. Children are invited forward for the Young People’s Message after the reading of the Gospel.  Children’s Time, which includes arts and crafts activities and singing, is available for young children in the Atrium during the sermon and prayers on the first and third Sundays of each month.  Children return to the worship space in time for the offering and Holy Communion.
