VISUAL PRAYER WORKSHOP ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 9:00-10:30AM
The monthly series on creative and contemplative prayer continues with an exploration of Visio Divina, which is a visual way of praying. Latin for “Holy Sight” or “Divine Looking,” Visio Divina is a Christian prayer practice that creates an openness to encounters with God through visualizing God’s Word. Together, we’ll mediate on passages from Scripture using illuminations (meditative illustrations) from the St. John’s Bible.
This workshop is part of a monthly series that will introduce you to different forms of prayer that are both creative (we step outside the “normal” ways of praying) and contemplative (we go deep!) At each workshop, we’ll learn about the prayer practice together, spend some time on our own giving it a try, and then will come back together to reflect on our experience. You’ll walk away with a new or renewed way to pray for the rest of the month.
Future workshops include:
Saturday, March 18 9:00-10:30am: Walking Prayer
April (date and time TBA): Prayer Beads
