David Blakemore writes: I have been privileged to participate, along with other members of CLC, in two walks sponsored by the Ward 4 Anti-gun violence Initiative.
The idea is to respond to specific recent murders that have happened in Ward 4. We joined members of other Ward 4 churches to walk to murder sites. At each site we called out the name of the victim, then joined in a prayer for peace and an end to gun violence. Friends and family of the victims were invited to join us.
I have found participation in these walks personally rewarding. They are one reason why I value membership in CLC. While we know that we will not stop murder in our ward, it is important for the church to be seen acting on our faith in this way. In addition, I value the connections I have made with other Ward 4 Christians.
